Well, If There's Any Such Thing As a $30k Foxbody, Here It Is

Look at this damn thing.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

That’s how it’s done. ‘85-86 notches are, to me, the best looking Foxstangs and this is the best looking one I’ve ever seen. If I had enough money that $30k wasn’t a big deal, I’d buy it instantly.

Edit: Let me know if the link isn’t working. I can’t tell on my phone.

neat, but overpriced. The hood gauges ruin it and its also too shiny, Fox Body ‘stangs look best semi-gloss or dirty.

hatch = +300 pounds and less rigidity over notch . But for looks? I agree, hatch looks so fine.

Yes. Notch quad-headlights are the best.

I really like the car, and of course prefer 4 eye Foxes (See my Capri lol) but there are 2 mistakes. 1. the car should’ve been upgraded to 5 lug. 2. those hood gauge pods are not working.

Only reason I don’t lean notch back is because I want a place to put my second set of wheels/tires.

Definitely not $30k worth of nice, I agree. But if I had to spend $30k on a Fox at gunpoint, that’s probably the one I’d choose.

My worry about it is actually the paint protection film they say they put over the paint, which is probably part of the reason it’s so glossy. But that stuff tends to pull non-factory paint off if you try to remove it.

That’s a good argument. The Capri might be my overall favorite Fox, I love that square nose. Plus bubble hatch gives you a tiny bit more room over even a Mustang hatch.

I’ve owned both, I like the look of a notch but won’t begrudge somebody liking a hatch better. If it was a hatch with t-tops I’d have a real tough time choosing.

I wish I could’ve found a bubble hatch. They’re also - NOT glass. It’s a composite back window.

My Capri is the same hatch as the Mustang, bubble wasn’t out for 82 and the 82 was the best car for the money anywhere with in drive it home distance (at that was already over 150 miles).

You know, I seem to recall you telling me that about the bubble when I mentioned I thought it would be easy to break. No big loss though, maybe one will turn up someday (unlikely, but you never know...I found one local to me a week after I bought my ‘85 with a Stang hatch).

Oh total CP, I don’t think any Fox is worth that, but if somebody put a gun to my head and made me spend $30k on one that’s the one I’d buy.

500?! man what a deal too!

My only complaint with the newer ones was how low the bumper went because I intended to Rally. Would’ve ripped it off.

It was really a good deal, rot holes in the floor and roof and all. I think I bought it in Providence and drove it to North Attleboro to put it in my uncle’s rented garage, and the tires were super flat spotted...felt like I was driving on square tires the first five miles or so. But then they smoothed out pretty good.

Funny thing about that car, I have legitimately no idea what engine was in it. It was a carbureted Ford small block of some sort, but the firing order was wrong for a 5.0 HO...we did a power balance test on it and just started fucking with the wires until we got it as good as we could. It only ever really ran on 7.5 cylinders, but I think we decided it was a 351 because that thing WENT.

Also I found $18.50 in change inside it after I bought it, so it was actually $481.50. Great car.

Nice deal, and it does in fact sound like a 351. It has a different firing order than 289/302.....and a lot of them had trouble with cylinder 1.

I can’t imagine the 351 in it giving how powerful the 302 is right now with only very minor mods (upgraded from 2 to 4 barrel for a 600 CFM Holley, 289 performer Edelbrock intake, and dual flowmasters). It’s already well past the power I need for RallyX....that being said if I ever do a full rebuild it’ll become a 347 stroker.

302s really do respond well to mods. You could make a trip to your local Pick N Pull and bolt on 50hp for $100 if you want. Find yourself a 95-97 Explorer or Mountaineer with a 5.0 and pull a set of GT40 heads and upper/lower intake manifolds off. Teamed with a stock ‘87 cam you’d be reeeeeal close to 300hp.

There’s plenty of wiring and a computer that needs to go along with that set up my friend. Mine’s carb’ed with a 600 CFM 4 barrel Holley. If it were fuel injected that would be a crazy easy swap. Also, it came stock with a 2 barrel so it was never previously wired for a FI set up.

I could still bolt on the heads and put in a cam though. I just don’t think it’s needed at this point. I need to focus on making it Rally ready not faster.

Ohhh I read that and didn’t even process it, hahaha. The heads are worth it by themselves though, if you’re carbureted I definitely wouldn’t swap it to EFI...not worth the effort on a race car.

You’re right though. It’s gonna be fun enough trying to keep it on the track with the power you’ve got now. Make it race well, and then you know there’s plenty of power you can add later. I’m really looking forward to seeing this raced...one of my 2 or 3 favorite Oppo projects.

Alright made the top 3! And yeah, that’s why another set of wheels and the new winter tires were just ordered. The more important upgrades will be suspension/driveline. Top plans are to swap the rear axles/diff out to an 8.8 rear with probably 3.73 gears and rear disc brakes also swapping to 5 lugs all the way around which will lead to 2 more sets of wheels lol.

3.73s are a huge upgrade from stock...usually 2.73s or 3.08s. You might get 3.73s in it and not even need more power, haha.

Off the top of my head the only other project I can think of is whoever is doing the Expedition Allroad, as a former allroad owner I always like to see them milling about.

Mine came with 3.08 Traction Lok in a 7.5 Rear End. I’m already one of the highest power vehicles in class....and the least experienced driver....should go well...right?? lol
